Overview
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) was an Austrian composer of classical music. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers in music history. He wrote over 600 works, which include symphonies, operas, concertos, chamber music and solo piano pieces. He was a musical prodigy, composing his first piece at the age of five and performing at the court of the Austrian empress at the age of six. Mozart's music has remarkable lyrical beauty and melodic grace, often combining elements of classical and opera styles. His use of harmonies, counterpoint and melodies created some of the most recognizable works in the history of music, including The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute, Symphony No. 40 and Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.
